The Blues : a story
Founded and known at least initially as (another) blues band in the local firmament, Dusty Ride has slowly but decisively become, since their first creations and especially with the release of their first album Dawn, an increasingly hard act to pin down stylistically, too blues for rock, too…rock for blues.
The assumption (if not the audacity! – friends know why) to be different in a standards-dominated musical area is probably one of the strengths that further individualizes and fuels the creation and live performance of a band like Dusty Ride. An artistic-musical assumption rooted in the deepest, most painful and traditional layers of the blues (yes, plantation slave music) integrated into a new music, a 21st century blues with diverse influences, from roots-rock and country to gospel, stoner, psychedelic, not to mention blues-metal (a formula pantomimed by the talented guitarist Eric Steckel). And a take it or leave it emotional take, played with heart and no half measures. Which is what they’ll be serving up on 24 March at the Republic Hub, when they’ll play their latest creations.
Since its inception in 2016, the band has performed at blues and rock festivals across the country including: Freedom Blues Festival Tg. Mures 2017, Maris Fest 2018, Urban Blues Fest Spring edition 2023, Panorama Blues & Wine Festival 2023, Dărmănești Open Air Blues in the Garden Festival 2022, Brașov Jazz&Blues Festival 2022, Jazz-Rock Festival Câmpina 2022, Suceava Blues Festival 2022, North-West Festival Baia Mare 2019, Top T-Bluzău Buzău 2018, MC Road Patrol Timișoara 2018, Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi 2017, Panorama Blues Festival Ghelari 2017, plus independent concerts in clubs in Bucharest and in the country. In 2019, Dusty Ride released their first album entitled “Dawn” with a sold-out concert at Sala Mare Arcub, followed by a promotional tour in 10 other cities in the country. The band is currently working on new material to be released this year.
