Analia Selis la Republic Hub

Analia Selis at Republic Hub, Targu Mures – 20 years of artistic career and 10 years of tango

Between May 10 and June 8, 2024, ANALIA SELIS and her guests from Argentina present the national tour “TANGO AUTÉNTICO” to the Romanian public. In a beautiful artistic journey built between her native country (Argentina) and her adopted country (Romania), the tour marks 20 years of artistic career in Romania and 10 years since Analia Selis dedicated her entire activity to tango, giving the public a series of projects designed around the most passionate musical genre.

In 2022, the Argentine Interministerial Committee awarded him the distinction of “Country Brand Ambassador” as a result of his contribution to building the Argentine national identity abroad. The national tours “Do you like tango?”, “Symphonic Tango”, “ArgEnTango”, “Symphonic Piazzolla”, “Symphonic Interbelic” – are all a testimony to the passion and dedication of Analía Selis for tango music. The success of her projects has also led to numerous invitations – from home and abroad – to perform with important ensembles or to participate in international festivals.

Analia Selis will celebrate with the public in Targu Mures on May 20, from 20:00 at Republic Hub. The recital, in a trio format, offers the audience a repertoire that combines famous Argentinian songs – such as “El choclo”, “Nostalgias” or “Milonga de mis amores” – with pieces of Romanian interwar tango, such as “Nunuțo”, “What are you doing tonight?”, “Habar n-ai tu”.

Joining Analia Selis on stage will be two guests from Argentina, highly appreciated in the world of tango: JULIÁN CAEIRO (piano and musical arrangements) and DAMIÁN FORETIC (bandoneón).

“From the music of my native Argentina to that of my adopted country, Romania, my journey continues in tango steps.

In my projects of the past years, dedicated to Argentine tango, I started to include Romanian pieces. And so I had the immense joy of discovering Romanian interwar tango. Music, texts and stories of an elegant era. I felt that this music had an extraordinary power and that it should be showcased in all its splendour. I have therefore chosen to carry forward the Romanian inter-war tango in all my concerts, either through a few pieces in the evening repertoire or through concerts dedicated entirely to the genre.

The Tango Auténtico tour brings to the Romanian audience Argentine tango alongside Romanian inter-war tango, with a new twist, in an authentic vision of the most passionate musical genre. It is the gift I want to give to the country and to the people who have adopted me.”

ANALIA SELIS says about her project

Settled in Romania since 2003, after musical studies in her native country (Argentina) and at the Longy School of Music – Boston (U.S.A.), ANALIA SELIS was initially appreciated as a Latin American pop singer and became known to the Romanian public after winning the 3rd prize at the “Cerbul de Aur” International Festival (2004). Since 2014, Analia has chosen a new way of artistic expression: tango, the fascinating and passionate musical genre born in Argentina.

In a beautiful artistic path built between the country of her birth and her adopted country, Analia Selis has given the Romanian public quality projects, in which the most famous tangos signed by great composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel or Sebastian Piana were interpreted in the traditional way, as they used to sing in Argentina, the country where, on the border with Uruguay, she was born at the end of the century. This type of music and dance.

National tours “Do you like tango?” (two editions), “Symphonic Tango” (first edition), “Symphonic Tango – Milonga de mis amores” (second edition), “ArgEnTango”, “Symphonic Piazzolla” or “Interbelic Symphonic” are all a testimony of Analia Selis’ passion and dedication to tango music.

As a result of her success, Analia has been invited to perform with major orchestras in Switzerland (Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra), Czech Republic (Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra), Lithuania (Klaipėda Symphony Orchestra), Argentina (National University of Tucumán Symphony Orchestra) and with ensembles such as Gaudeamus Quartet, Contempo Quartet and others.
