Instruments
Romanian Pan Flute
A wooden wind instrument (made of maple, bamboo, elderberry, redwood) consisting of a group of differently sized tubes, attached side by side in a slightly concave line. It is used in folk and popular songs as well as other musical genres.
Romanian Caval
Similar to a five-hole flute but larger, made of maplewood or hazelwood. It is a large-sized aerophone instrument belonging to the flute family, which develops a chromatic minor scale with a defective grave register.
Romanian Flute
Composed of a cylindrical wooden plug with a length of 15-25 mm at the top end of the tube. Made of wood, the Romanian flute was commonly used due to its small size, making it very easy to carry.
Romanian Bagpipe
Usually made of goat leather, with 5-8 holes in the skin bag, producing a less shrill sound compared to its Balkan relatives. Nowadays, it is not in high demand, with only a few elderly people still using it.
Cimbal
A musical instrument with struck strings, originally from Asia, but still widely spread in Europe, although the 20th century ensured interest from cultures on other continents. Mostly known as a folk instrument, the cimbal also appears in classical music.
Saxophone
Flute
The pitch of the sounds produced by the flute varies by covering and uncovering the holes (in the traditional flute) or by closing and opening its keys (in the modern transverse flute and partially in modern cylindrical flutes).
